Didn’t the Washington Freedom become the Magicjack? And you know who plays for the Magicjack? Megan Rapinoe, that’s who. 

I truly hope that “World Cup Fever” carries over into increased support for the WPL. I fear that bankruptcy might be on the horizon, however.

With temperatures currently reaching the upper-90s and humidity levels of almost 100%, I’m not convinced that there are many benefits to residing in the Deep South. Actually, there are many. I’ll explore them in a later post.

My sister and her family live in Waterford, Virginia. How close is this to you?

I should respond to this in song, seeing that this is a musical tumblr blog, but I’m at work so regular text will have to do.

Yes, the Freedom are now the Magicjack. The Freedom played their games for the last few years at the soccer complex where my kids played. They always seemed to have a pretty good crowd, but it was a small venue. That league is in trouble. I think they could do a better job of marketing themselves. Instead of wasting dollars on newspaper ads they should develop relationships with the youth leagues and schools, and build their fan base that way.

I live about 30 to 45 minutes from Waterford by car. Geographically much closer, but there is not a direct route, unless you take White’s Ferry (not sure if it’s still operating though). I live in North Potomac in Montgomery County Maryland. I used to play golf at Goose Creek golf course once in awhile, which is in Leesburg and very close to Waterford. There are some really cool old houses in that town. Does your sister live in one of the historic houses?
