Festive Ale Focus: My son Joe and I went to the Baying Hound Ale Works last night to check out their holiday party and two holiday ales on tap. It’s great to have a small nano brewery a few minutes from the house!
First up was the Bah Humbug Barelywine. I’m not a fan of this genre of ale, but I really liked this. It didn’t have to strong of a malt taste, and was hopped perfectly. You can see the photo of Joe enjoying it. I would buy a bottle of this, but it’s only available on tap.
Next we had the Mole Winter Warmer Ale. This was a very interesting ale brewed with hot peppers. It was like drinking a spicy mexican dinner. I loved the hot pepper after taste, and wish this was available bottled to have with dinner. The only criticism I have with this ale is that it wasn’t carbonated enough for my taste. In talking with the brewer, one version of this ale was too hot to consume!
